The Home She Deserves Foundation builds cooperative housing communities and wraparound support that help working single mothers in New York City reach stability, independence, and — eventually — a home of her own.

We build supportive, cooperative housing communities and wraparound resources that help working single mothers in New York City achieve stability, independence, and ultimately, homeownership — for themselves and their children.
Our Vision
A New York City where no working mother has to raise her children without a community behind her, and where single motherhood is never a barrier to a safe, stable, permanent home.
Who "She" Is
Employed single mothers in the NYC metro area — stable enough to work full-time, precarious enough that one setback (a lost shift, a rent hike) can undo years of progress.
She's too stable for a shelter, too stretched for the market on her own.
Working single mothers routinely fall between every system built for housing stability. There's rarely a middle path. We built one.

Cooperative Housing
Shared residences where mother-headed households split rent, utilities, and household responsibilities — each retaining a private space.
Mutual-Aid Platform
A members-only network where verified mothers request and offer help — babysitting swaps, school pickups, errands.
Financial Literacy & Homeownership Pipeline
A coaching track that moves a mother from rent-burdened to mortgage-ready — budgeting, credit repair, matched savings.
Podcast & Media
Real conversations with single mothers about what they need and the policy gaps they live inside — giving an unheard population a public voice.
Working single mothers, ready to build.
Our ideal initial participant is intentionally defined — a clear picture makes both our support and our eligibility screening honest and real.
- A single mother with at least one minor child in her care
- Employed full-time, or full-time-equivalent
- Low-to-moderate income, currently housed but unstable — or in transition
- Living or working in New York City
- Ready to work toward stability — and, eventually, a home of her own
